Mission Statement

Here at Twenty Two Kicks we have launched our shoe recycle project where parents can donate their children's old school shoes to be cleaned up and given a fresh lease of life in time for the new school year. The idea is to try and help families who may be worried about affording new school shoes as the cost of living crisis continues.

We are hoping that the people of York rally behind the project and donate where they can.  We would rather be overwhelmed with donations than underwhelmed! Once cleaned, all footwear will be given away, no questions asked. All we do ask is that you only take what you need so we can help as many families as possible.

Millions of shoes are thrown into landfill every week, according to the charity Shoe Aid. We aim to REFRESH | REUSE | REPURPOSE your footwear, creating a more sustainable and affordable environment.

Join us at City Screen York in The Basement on the 19th August,

10.30-17.30 where we will be giving the donated school shoes for free to anyone who needs them. No questions asked.

Where can you donate?

City Screen, Picturehouse

City Screen Picturehouse, York is our flagship site for the School Shoe Donation Project. Located at the top of Coney Street, overlooking the River Ouse, the 3 screen art house cinema is at the heart of the York community and was our first port of call when starting this project.

The donation bin can be found in the foyer.
